An Ethnomethodological Study of Abductive Reasoning While Tinkering
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tinkering is often viewed as arbitrary practice that should be avoided. However, tinkering can performed part of a sound reasoning process. In this ethnomethodological study, we investigated process construes logical inferences. This new asset-based approach applied in computer science education. We analyzed artifact-based interviews, video observations, reflections, and scaffolding entries from three pairs early childhood teacher candidates to document how they engaged while tinkering. Abductive observed during discussed detail.

Role of Abductive Reasoning
Along with geographical and technological barriers, the barriers created by local and parochial techno-social systems have to be taken into consideration in order to make us truly nomadic. A key question in the near future is how the user of advanced mobile technology could be empowered to have more control over the multiple spaces he or she inhabits and the numerous boundary crossings that he ...
متن کاملAn Abductive Propositional Logic for Design Reasoning
Design can be seen as a reasoning process based on non-classic logic, in which non-monotonicity and abduction are two essential features. This paper introduces Abductive Propositional Logic (APL), which is a simple but powerful formal system to deal with these two features. To show its capabilities, APL is used to analyze the reasoning of a conceptual design of a scooter. The results reveal tha...
متن کاملAn Abductive Model for Human Reasoning
In this paper we contribute to bridging the gap between human reasoning as studied in Cognitive Science and commonsense reasoning based on formal logics and formal theories. In particular, the suppression task studied in Cognitive Science provides an interesting challenge problem for human reasoning based on logic. The work presented in the paper is founded on the recent approach by Stenning an...
متن کاملAbductive reasoning networks
Is the process of inferring facts using neural networks a unique form of reasoning? Is there really a different type of reasoning separate and distinct from deduction and induction? Does there exist a single fundamental form of inference for reasoning qualitatively, quantitatively, possibilistically (about 'fuzzy' concepts), and probabilistically? YES, it is called abduction. This paper present...
متن کاملAbductive case-based reasoning
This article will introduce abductive case-based reasoning (CBR) and attempt to show that abductive CBR and deductive CBR can be integrated in clinical process and problem solving. Then it provides a unified formalization for integration of abduction, abductive CBR, deduction and deductive CBR. This article also investigates abductive case retrieval and deductive case retrieval using similarity...
